I have the honour to acknowledge
the receipt of your Secret despatch of 11th
August, 1934, on the subject of the payment of the final instalment of $500,000 of this Government's
contribution towards the cost of the new Naval
Armament Depôt at Stonecutters Island and to inform
you that payment of this sum, subject to a deduction
of the equivalent in dollars of the sum of £5,000 which it is agreed shall be withheld pending a settlement of the question of the aerial ropeway, will be effected before the end of the United Kingdom financial year 1934 5, and that provision has been made in the Draft Estimates for 1935 accordingly.

It is observed that the Lords
Commissioners of the Admiralty consider that it should be possible to evacuate the old depòt completely by February 1937. It is hoped that the construction of
the new magazines will be carried out with the utmost
